A small defect found between stays usually causes less disruption than one discovered by a guest at midnight. Preventive maintenance means planned checks and a clear escalation path, not only reacting to complaints.
Between-stay checks
Test access, hot water, drainage, heating or cooling, Wi-Fi and frequently used appliances. Cleaners report what they observe; a qualified technician inspects utilities and performs repairs. Keep a log with date, issue, photos, contact and resolution.
Before the season
On the coast, check cooling, damp, fittings and outdoor spaces exposed to the marine environment before peak summer. In the mountains, check heating, water supply, winter access and appliance instructions. In Bucharest, schedule repairs around availability and never advertise a broken amenity.
Supplies, budget and backup
Keep common supplies and small spare items, service contacts and an agreed spending threshold with the owner. Block dates when work makes the home unavailable. Compare each inspection with inventory and reference images. A cleaning and maintenance backup matters most in busy periods.
